Subject: Implementation of "A Book on Digital Learning" in Telangana Schools (Classes VI-IX) from Academic Year 2025-26
The School Education Department of Telangana is introducing "A Book on Digital Learning" as a separate module in the state curriculum for Classes VI to IX from the academic year 2025-26 in all Government, Local Body, Model Schools, KGBVs, and TREIS. This initiative, "Future Ready Telangana- Artificial Intelligence and Digital Initiative," aims to equip students and teachers with 21st-century skills. A Non-Financial MoU was established between PiJam Foundation and the School Education Department to foster innovation and digital empowerment.
The curriculum is designed to be contextual, activity-based, and rooted in real-life applications, employing active learning strategies that blend theory with practice. Textbooks for Classes VI to IX have been printed and distributed. Capacity-building programs have been conducted for Digital District Resource Persons (DDRPs) and mathematics and physical science teachers to strengthen their skills in coding, data science, and AI. District-level workshops are also being conducted for teachers in Atal Tinkering Lab-established schools. A cascading approach will be adopted to reach all concerned teachers across Telangana.
Schools are provided with suggestive work distribution and instructional guidelines to ensure effective teaching. Key implementation guidelines include textbook distribution, lesson allocation, collaboration among teachers, curricular integration, respect for data privacy, and student certification with a digital project repository. District Educational Officers are instructed to communicate these proceedings to all Headmasters/Principals to ensure effective implementatihon of the digital curriculum.
